Love in Action

HUCC Ministries

At HUCC we have several ministries that engage and care for members of the church and our communities. See below for details about each of these ministries.

Children’s Ministry

We stand for Love in Action. Our Christian community partners with people of all ages to act upon their love for self, others, and divine mystery. HUCC is progressive, open-minded, and LGBTQ+ affirming.

Youth Ministry

As young people, we know that God and others love us, and we are learning how to connect with others in a lifelong relationship of Love. In our community, we are equals who actively further God’s purposes in the world.

Holladay Preschool

For over 60 years, Holladay Preschool students have experienced a wonderful introduction to grade school. Not only are they learning new skills, but they are getting to know and understand themselves, the people around them and the big world they live in!

Caring Ministry

Our Caring Ministry Team is made up of volunteers who work in collaboration with our ministers.

Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry is a unique kind of care-giving. It’s a program that trains, supervises and supports lay people to walk alongside another person as they go through a difficult life experience.

Music Ministries

Worship Bands

Being in a worship band is another great way to connect with others and with God, and increase your musical skills.  We currently have three worship bands that play during our service.  Twist of Faith plays twice a month, the Holy House Band plays once a month and the Choir performs twice a month.  The worship bands play a variety of music, from rock to folk to gospel to praise to jazz to world…the list just goes on!  Rehearsals are at 7 p.m. on Thursday evenings in the sanctuary. Calling All Musicians! If you sing or play an instrument and would like to be involved in some way in either the alternative or traditional worship service, we’d love to hear from you.

Choir

The choir at HUCC is open to anyone who wants to sing!  In addition to having a fun time, being in the choir is a great opportunity to nourish your soul and become a better musician.  The choir sings an anthem (special music) most Sundays in the 11 a.m. traditional service from September-May, but is also there to lead the congregation in hymns and service music every week.  We sing a variety of music, some easy and some difficult.Whether you’ve been in choir for years or haven’t had any musical training, we would love to work with you.  No matter what your abilities are, we want you to be able to experience the joy of singing at HUCC.  Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings in the choir room from 7:30-9 p.m.
