Be The Church Sunday, October 26th

This Sunday, October 26th: Be the Church Sunday!

As many of you know, churches often designate a Sunday in September or October as a “Rally Sunday”. Rally Sunday is the church equivalent of “back to school night” open houses at schools. In churches, Rally Sunday is when when friends and members are reminded of all that goes on in their faith community and are invited to get involved in a ministry or program they might be interested in. Especially in congregational churches like HUCC, ministries only succeed when people volunteer to help.

We are a busy church! This year, October 26th turned out to be the best day to hold our “Rally Sunday” at HUCC. But why call it “Rally Sunday” like everyone else? At HUCC, we work hard and joyfully on the many things it takes to “Be the Church”, so why not call it that? Of course, October 26th is also the last Sunday before Halloween. Since we always look for ways to enjoy food, fun and fellowship, we decided to add a Halloween theme to Be the Church Sunday. A little different perhaps, but why not bring folks together for fun with the goal of making our church even better? Creativity is one the things that defines Holladay UCC!

So, after worship on the 26th, come down to MacMullen Hall for coffee. During Sunday School, adults can learn about the various ministries at HUCC and enter a drawing for a gift card. After Sunday School, we’ll have the kids join us in costume while we all enjoy a chili lunch with Halloween donuts for dessert!

We hope that adults will have some fun wearing silly Halloween hats while the younger folks will have costumes. We ask that all hats and costumes be funny and appropriate for all ages. Please, nothing scary or gory.
